Felix the hero raises £5K+ for children’s charity

Our Moggy of the Week is a Huddersfield railway station cat named Felix, who ‘ran’ a 5km fun run for a children’s charity.

Felix, a cute fluffy tuxedo kitty, raised £5,239.50 – £239.50 over her £5,000 target – for Fairy Bricks, which brightens the lives of sick children at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and The Royal Calderdale Hospital in Halifax with LEGO bricks kits.

Visitors to Felix’s social media pages following her 5km run, which was tracked via a GPS being put on her collar, and donations poured in as she completed the charity fun run distance in short bursts otherwise described as “pest patrols at the station” between 12 and 31 August.

The TransPennine Express trains kitty has made a lot of new friends in commuters travelling to the station to see her before they catch their train to work in the mornings and Andy McClements, of TransPennine Express (TPE), said: “The team here could not be prouder of our resident senior pest controller. Ever since the beginning of the year when Felix was propelled to superstardom, she’s gathered quite a following on social media who track her daily exploits and adventures through Facebook.”

Felix now has over 81,000 friends on Facebook – and growing – and we salute this charitable kitty.

Keep up the good work Felix!
